Analyzing the measurement of agility, body composition and rast of young basketball players

This study is planned to analyze agility body composition and Running Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST) measurement of male basketball players. The research group is composed of 20 players struggling in Niğde local basketball leagues ( age 14,30 ±080 year, height 171,60 ± 12,69cm , weight 60,81 ± 13,39 kg, sporting age 2-5 years) and 15 male players competing in U18 category ( age 17 ± 0,84 year, height 179,20 ± 13,88 cm, weight 68,34 ± 14,96 kg, sporting age 5-7 years). The players voluntarily participated the tests. After measuring heights and weights of both groups, RAST and Illinois agility test were applied in turn. After determinative counting of variables statistics (Standart deviation – avarage) Pearson's correlation coefficient was used for the analysis of relationship between agility datas, RAST and body measurements. In order to make comparison between groups Mann-Whitney U. was used. To analyze the datas spss 18.0 statistics software and for the significance level p<0.05 were used. The relationship between agility and body composition is found insignificant (p<0.05). In U15 and U18 sportsmen the relationship between RAST and body composition is found significant (p<0.05). In each groups sportmen's agility and Running Anaerobic Sprint Test comparison results has been found significant (p<0.05). It is seen that antropometrics variables aren't determining in agility test but it may be determining in the skills that need velocity.
