The vehicle role of the organizational climate in the effect of power culture and toxic leadership on the intention of search: A research on private security sector

In a working environment, there are a wide variety of factors that affect the working conditions and the well-being of employees. Among these factors, the most important ones are organizational culture, organizational climate and leadership style adopted by managers. This study investigates the mediating role of organizational climate in the effect of hierarchical organizational culture and toxic leadership style of managers on the employees' turnover intention. For this purpose, a questionnaire was applied to a total of 542 people working in two different private security companies in Turkey. Survey questions included questions about organizational culture, leadership and organizational climate, and their intention to leave the job, as well as some demographic characteristics of the participants. Findings showed that hierarchical organizational culture and toxic leadership positively affect employees' turnover intentions. On the other hand, findings revealed that a negative organizational climate eliminates the effect of hierarchical culture on turnover intention by fully mediating the relationship, but it plays a partial mediating role by eliminating the effect of toxic leadership on turnover intention at a negligible level.
