Investigation of Gülten Akın's Seyran Destani and Maraş'in ve Ökkeş'iin Destanı works in terms of sociology of literature

When we look at the studies on the sociology of literature in the past and today, we see that the novel stands out. The reason for this is the view that the form and content of the novel are more suitable for collecting data for sociology of literature. However, it is an undeniable fact that poetry is also a reflection of the consciousness and culture formed in certain periods of society. Since life is intertwined with art and therefore poetry, we are of the opinion that it is not correct to take the novel as the only criterion in the sociology of literature. For the reasons mentioned above, Gülten Akın's "Seyran Destanı", "Maraş'ın ve Ökkeş'in Destanı" were examined and data were obtained in the context of sociology of literature. The theoretical features of the sociology of literature were explained in the study and the development of sociology of literature in our country and in the world was mentioned. In addition, the effect of the political and social structure of Turkey at the time the work was written on the author's environment of consciousness and how this effect reflected on the works were examined.. A literary work can give us clues about the society and history of the era in which it was written, but this does not show that the work of literature is a historical document. The literary value of the works should not be ignored when examining in the context of sociology of literature.
