The analysis on effect of home-based education program based on daily life activities on six-year old children?s acquisition of scientific concept

This study was conducted to analyze the effect of ?Home-Based Education Program Based On Daily Lıfe Activities? on acquisition of scientific concepts of six year old children. The sampling of this study was composed of 44 children in experimental group, 45 children in control group and 89 children in total. In this experimental study, while the design of ?pre test- treatment- post-test? was applied to experimental group, design of ?pre test- post test? was applied to control group. Eight-week ?Home-Based Education Program Based On Daily Lıfe Activities? was applied to the experimental group and at the end of the treatment post tests were administered. Data were collected through ?Personal Information Form? and ?Scientific Concept Control List?. For the analysis of this study, ?Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) 12.0 for Windows? was used.As the validity- reliability tests of ?Scientific Concept Control List? the ?Factor Analysis? and ?Cronbach Alpha? coefficients were calculated. In data analysis, besides percentage and frequency distribution, the comparisons with two and three groups and between pre test and post test were conducted. For comparisons, pre test and post test scores in two groups; data had normal distribution, ?t testi? and ?Student t? test were used as parametric tests, otherwise ?Mann- Whitney U (MWU)? test was used as non- parametric test. In three group comparisons; ?Kruskall Wallis? test was used.As a result study; ?Scientific Concept Control List? sub- tests scores of dimensions experimental group children who were applied to ?Home-Based Education Program Based On Daily Lıfe Activities? were statistically significant (p<0.05). ?Home-Based Education Program Based On Daily Lıfe Activities? based on daily life activities had a positive effect on children? s acqusition of scientific concept.Key Words: Home-Based Education Program, Scientific Concepts, Pre-school Education.
