Abstract (EN)
Offense of libel is settled in articles 125 ff. of Turkish Penal Code no. 5237. This crime is in Eighth Section called "Offenses Against Esteem" in Second Chapter "Offenses Against Persons" in Second Volume of Turkish Penal Code. According to the article 125, the person who attributes a concrete action or phenomenon that may offend dignity, honor and prestige of a person or attacks one's dignity, honor and prestige by means of swearing is punished with imprisonment from three months to two years or imposed judicial fine. Articles 125 ff. of Turkish Penal Code ensuring honor of people are discussed in this study. In this context it is tried to include freedom of expression and other lawful legal causes in detail.
