Evaluation of the educational process of students enrolled in art and design education at a public education center (The case of Diyarbakır province, Kayapınar Public Education Center)

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the satisfaction levels of individuals participating in art and design coursesat Diyarbakır Kayapınar Public Education Center and theirviews on the course process. The research was conducted based on a mixed survey model and guantitative and gualitative methods were used together. The sample group consisted of 32 individuals who attended art and design courses at the Diyarbakır Kayapınar Public Education Center in 2022. A questionnaire consisting of demographic information and course evaluation questions was used as a data collection tool, and open-ended questions were also included to examine the views of the participants in-depth. This study reveals that art and designcourses offered in public education centrescontribute to the artistic, social and personal development ofindividuals. The results of the reseaerch Show that 75% of the participants found the course usefulin generaland were satisfied with the training process. Participants stated thatthey improwed their artistic skills and found the opportunity for personal development and socialisation thanks to the course. The performance of the course teachers was evaluated very positively by the participants; it was stated that the teachers exhibited a guiding, motivating and understanding attitude. However, it was emphasised that improvements should be made in terms of physical conditions and training materials. In the analyses conducted in terms of demographic characteristics, no significant difference was found between varibles such as gender, age and marital status and course satisfaction.participants stated that the course duration and programme were generally adeguate, but that the course hours should be made flexible for working individuals. As a result of the research, suggestions such as improving the physical conditions, providing more material support and increasing the variety of programmes were offered to improve the guality of education of the courses. In addition, it was concluded that such courses are an important tool for individuals to spend their free time efficiently, to cope with stress and to improve their self-expression skills.
