Abstract (EN)

The diplomatic relations between Turkey and France was established before the 16th century; however, it has shown great financial progress especially with the implementation of "capitulations." In the 19th century, Ottoman Empire took France as a model to catch up with Europe that was in the middle of industrialisation. In other words, during this westernization period of Turkey, which started in the 18th century, showed momentum in the 19th and continued in the 20th, the gateway to Europe has always been France as a country. Therefore, the need for teaching French has emerged, too. In the teaching process of French as a foreign language, initially, foreigners living in Turkey published some works. However, later on, Turkish intellectuals took the initiative of writing dictionaries, grammar and spoken discourse books. Küçük Kamus-ı Fransevi (1928) is one of these written works. It is the last French-Turkish publication in Arabic language, written from the perspective of its author, with 50,000 words in it.
