Abstract (EN)
Background: Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) still seems to be a very common clinical problem. 5-7% of hospitalised patients and 25-30 % of intensive care unit admitted patients are diagnosed with this clinical antity.Aim: In this study, we aimed to obtain and reveal the incidence of hospital associated AKI (H-AKI), etiology of AKI, clinical features, prognosis and complications in hospitalised adult patients which were attended Istanbul Bilim University Avrupa Florence Nighingale Clinical Research Center.Method and Cases: This study is designed as an observational way in all adult patients who administered to Avrupa Florence Nightingale Hospital Clinical Research Center between September 09- September 10. All patients who recovered in our hospital were accepted to this observational study; except patients who were under age of 18, hospitalised shorter than 48 hours, pregnant, critically ill suffer from multi-organ failure, already hospitalised because of AKI and had no labratory findings. RIFLE creatinine criterias were used to define AKI.Findings: The incidence of AKI were found 7,5%. 52,3 % of patients were female, whereas 47,7 % of patients were male and 50% of patients were older than 70. Ethiology of disease were associated with prerenal, intrinsic renal and multi-factorial causes as 42.9, 28.6, 21.1 %, respectively. Mortality was found 23% in patients with acute renal injury. The most important cause of death determined as sepsis which has a significant correlation between mortality. Low arterial blood pressure increased mortality in death patients compared to alive ones. Conclusion: At the end, in our hospital the incidence of AKI is discovered in an acceptable range, but it seems possible to decrease the incidence with good management of illness especially older people and kidney injury can be obtained earlier with more closely follow-ups of renal functions in this age group of patients.
