Abstract (EN)
Considered one of the greatest states in the history of Islam, the Mamluk State (648-923/1250-1517) was recognized not only for its development in the political and military fields but also for its contributions to the cultural development of the Islamic world. With the influence of political and military successes, Sam and al-Kahira became safe towns for Muslim people, merchants, and those who engaged in science. As a result of the privileges provided by the Mamluk governance, the cultural field came to fruition even more, and the Mamluk period became the brightest period in the history of Islam in terms of scientific activities. Beyond any doubt, one of the most intense fields of this period was history. Many historians were educated during the Mamluk period and most of the works they committed to paper have survived to the present day. Among these historians, There is also Khatib al-Jawhari, who wrote works at the end of the Mamluk period and was a member of the merchant class. In this study, it is aimed to understand Khatib al-Jawhari, who contributed to Mamluk historiography, and his understanding of history based on his works named Nüzhet al-nüfus ve'l-abdan fî tavârîhi'z-zaman and İnbaü'l-hesr bi-abnai'l-'asr. In the introduction part of the study. Information was given about the political and scientific environment in the period when Khatib al-Jawhari lived. In the first chapter, Khatib al-Jawhari's life and his works are emphasized, In the second part, determinations and evaluations of Khatib al-Jawhari's historiography were made through the aforesaid works.
