Abstract (EN)
This research was conducted to evaluate the level of knowledges, attitudes and behaviors of nurses regarding the nosocomial infection agents methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus. This resarch is type descriptive. The research's universe included 192 nurses working in surgical clinics and intensive care unit at Katip Çelebi University Atatürk Education and Research Hospital in İzmir between 1 Agust-30 November 2018. The studies sample included 131 volunteers and nurses matching the research limitations in participating in surgical clinics and intensive care unit at Katip Çelebi University Atatürk Education and Research Hospital in İzmir. The data collection tool consists of a total of 41 questions including the sociodemographic information form developed by the researcher and the attitudes and applications of the nurses determining of nurses knowledge, attitudes and behaviors regarding the nosocomial infection agents methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus prepared according to the literature. Data were collected by face to face interview method by the researcher. Permits from the institutions required for conducting the research and nurses were informed about the research and verbal permissions were obtained. The results of the research were evaluated in the SPSS (IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0) program. The reliability of the administered surveys was checked by Cronbach alpha coefficients. Data's; number, percentage, mean ± standard deviation. The assumption of normal distribution of knowledge and attitude scores was tested with Kolmogov Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests. These scores were assessed using non-parametric tests (Kruskall Wallis and Mann Whitney U) because information and attitude scores were not normally shared out. Kruskall Wallis test statistic was used if the parameter was 3 or more categories. The significance level of all tests was statistically significant when the p value was less than 0.05. When the relationship between the mean scores of knowledge, attitude and behavior of nurses and hospital infections was examined in the last two years, no statistically significant relationship was found (p>0.005). There was no statistically significant relationship between educational status of nurses and mean scores of knowledge, attitude and behavior (p>0.005). There was no statistically significant relationship between nurses' professional year and knowledges, attitudes and behaviors scores average (p> 0.005). There was no statistically significant relationship between the clinical/unit where the nurses worked and the mean scores of knowledge, attitude and behavior (p> 0.005).
