Determining the opinions of nursing students at the stage of preparing a care plan: A qualitative study

The aim of this study is to determine the difficulties experienced by nursing undergraduate students at the faculty of health sciences in the steps of the nursing process that they apply in the clinical settings and to provide solutions. The research was carried out with the help of basic qualitative research, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The study group consisted of 30 students studying at the Department of Nursing of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Giresun University in the academic year 2021-2022. A semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher was used as the data collection tool. The data were transferred to the MAXQDA 20 qualitative data analysis program and analyzed. It was concluded that the nursing stage that nursing students find easiest was data collection when preparing a care plan, and the nursing stage that they find the most difficult was diagnosis. It was determined that students benefited most from the nursing diagnosis book and the NANDA diagnosis book when preparing a care plan. It was understood that the most important obstacle that nursing students face when implementing the planned initiatives was being excluded, unwanted and reacted to by patients and relatives of patients. It has been determined that the support that students need most when preparing a care plan is to create a care plan, fill it out, and getting feedback on the prepared care plans.
