Abstract (EN)

The khanate of Kokand was established in 1710 when the Shaybanid emir Shahrukh of the Minglar Uzbeks declared independence from the Khanate of Bukhara establishing a principality in the Fergana Valley. In 1740it became the capital of the Kokand Khanate. Ferghana was mainly agricultural region.From the early nineteenth century, the construction of major irrigation channels throughout the valley progressively increased, agricultural production in Khanate of Kokand. Cotton was pre-eminent among industrial crops. Handicrafts were a feature of all towns and villages in the khanate.The Great Silk Road had palyed a major role in the development of the Kokand. Middle of the eighteenth century, the Khans of Khoqand recognized that establishing control over the trade routes was the most effective way to improve their military and political position in the valley.The Khanate of Kokand of had commercial relationship with Russia, China, India , Bukhara and Kasgar. Gold, silver and copper coins were all used in the monetary system of the Kokand KhanateKey Words: The Khanate of Kokand, Agriculture, Handicrafts, Trade, Russia, Ferghana Valley.
