Analysis of the chapter 49 Hujurat from the viewpoint of moral principles

This work covers the determination of the moral principles and the analysis of some concepts in Chapter 49, ?Hujurat? (Lit. Inner Dwellings) of the Quran. Determination of the moral principles is made the context of the Chapter in particular and in the entire Quran in general. This work consists of five sections, first of which deals with the subject and purpose of the thesis as well as the methods that will be followed in the study. The second section provides the general features of the Chapter, together with a conceptual framework. In this context, it deals with overall contents of the Chapter, the revelation atmosphere and the causes of revelation of certain verses. Upon the analysis and determinations made in the second section, we conclude that the Chapter has a language that places a special emphasis on social association, without ever permitting separation and apartness of the individuals. The third and fourth section constitutes the main frame of the Chapter. This section provides certain rules of manners regarding the behaviors and conducts of the believers to Allah and to His Messenger, individual and social behavior sensitivities, and brotherhood among the believers. In addition, particular concepts expressing negativity in certain behaviors are also analyzed in this section. The fifth section provides a genesal review of the thesis. Given the conditions of the time and place in which it was revealed, the Chapter ?Hujurat? has the main objective of providing explanations and directions regarding the moral conducts of Muslims especially in their social life, by compiling the verses revealed until that time.
