Abstract (EN)
Development of new products and improvement of available products are of capital importance in the competitive environment that textile mills are found. Hollow yarns that are developed for the aim of enhancing various properties of conventional yarns are special and sensitive yarns. Thermal comfort properties of knitted fabrics manufactured with conventional ring yarn and hollow yarns with different void space ratio were compared in this study. For this purpose, knitted fabrics were produced by cotton (sheath)/ polyvinyl alcohol (core) core spun yarns including different polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) ratios at the center of yarn and washing of fabrics in hot water were carried out. Thermal comfort properties such as thermal conductivity, thermal resistance, thermal absorptivity, air permeability, and water vapor permeability of knitted fabrics with hollow yarns obtained by washing process were determined. Then, models were developed for estimation of thermal properties of hollow yarn fabrics. Overall results show that knitted fabrics with enhanced thermal properties can be manufactured by hollow yarns.
