Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to achieve the adsorption of dyestuffs by obtaining activated carbon by chemical activation method from Elaeagnus seeds which is a kind of fruit. Activated carbon is a micro porous adsorbent. This adsorbent is produced from a wide variety of carbonaceous materials including coal, lignin, sugar and coconut shell, apricot kernel, olive core. There are some factors affecting the adsorption property of activated carbon. These are high surface area, high adsorption capacity, micro pore structure and surface functional groups. Two different processes, namely physical and chemical activation, are used in obtaining activated carbon. In the physical activation method, the raw material is activated in the atmosphere of CO2, N2 or water vapor. In the chemical activation method, the raw material is carbonized with a chemical substance (ZnCl2, KOH, H3BO3 K2CO3, H3PO4, H2SO4) at 400-900 ° C. The activated carbons produced in this study were obtained by chemical activation by the impregnation of the large-fruited Elaeagnus seeds with ZnCl2, KOH, H3BO3Structure and surface properties of activated carbons were investigated. Adsorption of dyes with activated carbons obtained by chemical activation method was investigated depending on temperature, time, pH and concentration. Adsorption equilibrium experimental data to the Langmuir and Freundlich equations by examining their compatibility with temperature was investigated. Dye adsorption was consistent with both Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm. The adsorption capacity of the non-activated substance was investigated depending on the pH, concentration, mixing time and temperature. It has been measured that chemical activation increases the capacity of activated carbon. Dye adsorption of activated carbons activated by ZnCl2, KOH, H3BO3 As a result, high adsorption capacity was determined as KOH, ZnCl2, H3BO3, respectively. Adsorption studies examined the thermodynamics of adsorption depending on temperature. Thermodynamic data indicate that all adsorption processes are self-contained.
