Abstract (EN)

This study focuses on Ikinci Yeni (The Second New Poetry) – Folklore relationship. The pioneering poets of The Second New Poetry frequently made explanations about tradition, especially folklore, folk poetry and answered the related questions in poetical texts, interviews, investigative responses, panel discussions, etc. in some newspapers and literary magazines of the time especially in 1960's and beyond poetry periods. In this phase of their poetry, it is noteworthy that the leading names of The Second New Movement dealt with folklore differently and even in the opposite direction from their initial principles of the 1950's. After this period, folklore is started to be viewed in line with a national essence, heritage and domestic poetry and used in certain poems by these modern poets. In this study, we aimed to connect this highly diverse and sometimes contradictory interaction between The Second New and folklore and to determine what the reasons could be behind this interaction. We have examined whether folklore is a threat to be avoided for our modern poetry or not. For this analysis we made a holistic and comparative study focusing between the early and later stage writings of The Second New Poets about tradition and especially about folklore. Additionally, we tried to concretely pointed out the related ideas on The Second New Poets' own poems. Key Words: Folklore, The Second New Poetry, modern poetry, folk poetry, tradition
