Abstract (EN)
Parents are the people that individuals first meet, come into contact with for the longest time and interact frequently. Genetic and parent research focuses on the influence of parents on individuals and tries to quantitatively examine these effects and relationships. Examining parental attitudes from the perspectives of individuals on parental behaviors is one of the subjects that have been studied in the literature for many years. Perceived parental attitudes are related to the interpretation of messages in parents' behavior, the processing of these messages, and the responses to messages. In the current study, it is aimed to examine the relationship between perceived parental attitudes, psychological resilience and coping ways in individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, by approaching parental attitudes from the perspective of individuals. The research was conducted with the relational screening model. A total of 105 people, 37 women (35%) and 68 men (65%), aged 18-75 years, who were diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia according to DSM-5, participated in the study. Perceived parental attitudes were measured with the Young Parenting Scale, resilience with the Brief Resilience Scale, and coping methods with the Ways of Coping Scale. IBM SPSS Statistic 22 was used for statistical analysis of the data. One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), T-Test for Independent Groups and Multiple Regression Analysis were used to examine the relationship between the variables in line with the normality assumptions. As a result of the study, it was determined that some of the sub-dimensions of perceived parental attitudes showed significant differences with the sub-dimensions of psychological resilience and ways of coping. The findings were discussed in line with the literature.
