Examination of spatial solution proposals against climate change; floating houses in Turkey

The risks posed by climate change have made it a growing, international danger. Climatic factors, which can vary in line with both natural and anthropogenic factors, have led to data above average values with the increase in anthropogenic effect especially in recent years. While climatic data is affected; it has intensified and/or accelerated the formation process of natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, rainfalls, wildfires and hurricanes. It is important to introduce an architectural measure to reduce the effects of climate change in order to prevent the damages to be experienced. In this study, the example of floating houses is examined as an architectural proposal in the face of climate change. The first part of the study is the intoduction part. In the second part after the introduction; the effects of climate change on the world were examined in general and then the housing problems created by climate change were addressed with the examples given from all over the world. In the second part; the effects of climate change on Turkey were discussed and the problems created by climate change in the field of housing were examined. Also some examples of the damages caused by disasters to houses and buildings were revealed. In the third part of the study, the subject of floating houses as an architectural alternative are classified and examined in two parts in terms of mobility; as vertical moving amphibious houses and horizantal moving floating houses. In the fourth part of the study, examples of the studies on the subject of the floating houses that have been done in Turkey until today are included. In the fifth part of the study, the results and suggestions on the subject are included.
