The tendency of elementary science and technology teachers on the use of teaching methods and techniques (Sampe of Hatay city)

During education, as supporting theoretical subjects with practicing, giving information of environment and better life for students are aimed. The instruction approaching that the elementary science and technology teachers use in the class affects the quality of learning directly. However, instructions method the teacher benefit, what frequency they use practice are used are very important. This study aims to determine the knowledge levels of the elementary science and technology teachers about instructions methods and techniques use on teaching science in primary schools second state (6th, 7th and 8th grade) in centre of Hatay.At this study, questionnaire that includes 34 questions has been applied 68 to science and technology teachers in center of Hatay as a tool of data collection. At the common frame of work, the relationship between knowledge levels and use of frequency instructions methods and techniques of the elementary science and technology teachers depending different attribution of teachers such as, gender, graduation from kind of school, vocational seniority, educational course in service and need to educational course in service have been studied. Also, the reason of use and disuse of these instructions methods and techniques of the elementary science and technology teachers have been studied. At the same time, the presence of science and technology laboratory, quantity of facilities and situations of use of laboratory are investigated in studied schools. At the assessment of collected data, SPSS (Statistical Packet for The Social Sciences) packet program has been used for the essential statistical solution (distributions of percentage and frequency, variance analysis, t-test and chi square test).As a result of this survey, only an example are given as the teachers prefer the question-answer, simulation, travel-observation and laboratory methods rather than other according to vocational seniority.
