Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between 7th grade of Primary School students? parents? expectations and the test anxiety. The population of the study composes of the students, attending 7th grade in the formal primary schools in Tuzla, İstanbul. The sample group is 360 students in total, studying in Tuzla in the academic year of 2011-2012.In this research , Parent Expectation Scale to measure students? parents expectations,Test Anxiety Inventory to measure the levels of the test anxiety, Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher for demographic features are applied.There are four sub-dimensions of Parent Expectation Scale .These sub-dimensions are, expectations about making the best,expectations about excellent student, expectations about working hard and expectations about grades.There are two sub-dimensions of Test Anxiety Inventory.These are Worry Extend for Test Anxiety and Emotional Extend for Text Anxiety.The data obtained from the scale is coded through SPSS (The Statistical Packet for Social Sciences) package program and they were analyzed. In order ; frequency , arithmetic mean, standard deviation and standard error were examined. To make the difference between groups for normally distributed data, binary comparisons t-test for independent groups, and to compare the variables of groups of more than two ,one-way analysis of variance are used.Whether there is a significant difference between opinions was tested by the p = 0.05 significance level. To determine what is the difference between the groups Scheffe Test or Tamhane?s T2 Test was made. For the groups of not normally dispersed data, Kruskal Wallis-H Test was used to make the difference between the groups of more than two variables for comparsion. Whether there is a significant difference between opinions was tested by the p = 0.05 significance level. To determine which differences between groups Mann Whitney U Test was made. The relations between the scales has been tested by Pearson correlation method.Keywords: Expectations, test anxiety
