An evaluation level of primary school inspector' role ofprofessionel aid and uidance according to the perception of primary schoolteacher (a model proposal)

This study has been carried out in order to identify the realization level of primary school inspectors? role of professional support and guidance according to the perception of primary school teachers. The study also aims to propose a new model of professional aid and guidance for primary school inspectors. Within the framework of the study, the survey technique was employed as data collection tool. Because of the main aim of the study, it is mainly comprised of evaluation. It tries to evaluate the efficiency of the activities that are carried out by primary school inspectors in order to provide primary school teachers with professional aid and guidance. On the basis of the findings of this study and other related studies, a new model of professional aid and guidance is suggested for primary school inspectors. The research population of the study consisted of 5142 teachers who were working at state primary schools in Diyarbakır in 2005-2006 academic year. A questionnaire including 55 items was used to gather data. Collected data were analyzed through SPSS for Windows. Statistical analysis techniques such as t- testi, variance analysis, (one way), mean and percentage were used to evaluate the data. Analysis of data indicated that primary school inspectors did not played their role of professional aid and guidance efficiently. The efficiency level of primary school inspectors in professional aid and guidance, which was identified under ten items, was found to be ?medium? for the item concerning ?teaching and learning legislation? and ?low? for the other nine items. Implications of the results of the study made it possible to propose a model of professional aid and guidance which can be used by primary school inspectors. The proposed model is called ?Processbased Professional Aid and Guidance?.
