Food consumption, preferences and body mass index research of elementary students

This study has been conducted, at the Polatlı district of Ankara province. The personal informations about students and their demographic characteristics, food consumption, preferences and their relationship between BMI obtained by a questionnaire and 24-hour remembering consumption questionnaire. Frequency of the data has been acquired and Pearson correlation analysis was applied for the data that required by utilizing SPSS 13.0 and BeBis programs.In the study, 297 girls and 182 boys a total of 461 students participated. 43.2% of the students 13-15 years old,% 37.5 of the students are between 10-12 age. Surveyed the average weight of girls 40.4 ± 11.3 kg, while the boys 38.3 ± 12.2 kg and the average length of 1:46 ± 0.13 m of the girls, while the boys? were found to be 1.45 ± 0:14 m. Girls' mean BMI 18.4 ± 2.9, while the boys were found to be 17.8 ± 3.0. 56.0% of the students went to school by walking in ten minutes or less and 51.0% of the students make sports by amateur. 45.8 % of students in daily 1001-1500 kcal of energy were found to receive. % 96.6 of the students prefer to buy flaky pastry etc. From school cantin.
