The proficiency levels of the primary school teachers in making the students gaining democratic behaviours

In this research, it has been tried to determine the proficiency levels of the primary school teachers in making the students gaining democratic behaviours.Research: The research contains seven parts. The first part is introduction, problematic situation, problematic sentence, subproblems, limits, the purpose of the research, definitions. The second part is democracy and education, the influence of the school in making the students acquiring democratic behaviours. The third part is the method of the research, universe and the examples, the collection of the data, analysis of the data. The fourth section is findings, the fifth section is discussions, the the sixth section is conclusions and the seventh section is suggestions.This research was carried out on 303 primary school teachers working in the primary schools on the Anatolian Side of İstanbul.The data collected in the research was analysed by using SPSS package program.In this research with the objective of determining the proficiecy levels of primary school teachers in making students gaining democratic behaviours, it has been examined whether there is a difference among teachers in terms of their profiency levels in making the students gaining democratic behaviours according to some variables such as their perceptions, sex, age, marital status, the schools from which they graduated, professional career, their branches, socio-economic environment of the school, number of students in the classand the lessons influential in forming democratic behaviours.The data in this research was collected by means of a questionnaire measuring the profiency levels of primary school teachers in making the students gaining democratic behaviours. The questionnaires were caried out by teachers whom were visited one by one in their schools and some explanations are made in some sections. The questionnaire consists of twenty-eight questions.This questionnaire consists of three subfactors. Data was interpreted in persentages by using t-test, Anova and scheffe test.In the conclusion important differences were observed among teachers? proficiency levels in making students gaining democratic behaviours according to their sex, age, maritial status, graduation marks, professional career, branches, socio-economic situation of the school and number of students in the classes.
