The importance of the holistic approach (Bloom taxonomy) in exams applied in primary schools

To elicit the problems occuring in the application of our educational system,it is crucial to highlight the importance of the obligation to use the new educational program in accordance with certain developed assessment models. Comparing educational in stitutions that use assessment in a random way, to those that apply it in a planned and organised fashion, have proved that the latter institutıons have the highest standards of education. To create an effective assessment system, the evaluational terminology must be constructed on a scientific base. In order to guide the research, two assessment exams and two observation tests have been organised among 116 2 nd, and 5 nd graders from one private and one government school in Üsküdar.As a method to classify behaviors, teachers gave utmost importance to ordering their lessons during the whole academic year in accordance with how to take students from a lower behavior level to a higher level. This educational research is a mathematical approach, where some of the exams applied were prepared based on the different stages of knowledge comprehension, analysis, synthesis, application and evaluation, where as the others were based on just knowledge without taking the other stages into consideration. The reliability of these exams was built on the internal consistency analysis Accordingly, in the descriptive statistics, min- max values, averages, standards, and variable homogenicty analysis were carried out. The data was based on SPSS 13.00 package program. It has been proved through =0.5 %95 reliability interval. One sample t test has been used from student t tests. As an outcome, it?s plainly obvious that the new educational approach, which is studentcentered, not based on memorization and inspires rational thinking, should reflect the same values on the exam system as well. The success achieved by students who were educated through taxonomic stages was proved to be significanty different compared to the students who were educated through a traditional memorization-based system, students who were evaluated only on knowledge level were observed to show a much lower performance.
