Abstract (EN)

Among the realm of calamitous diseases, COVID-19 represented an unprecedented and unbeknownst threat which exacerbated from a singular level to a global economic one. In fact, after the declaration of the global transmissible epidemic, the world underwent an exclusive era where things went upside down. From movement restrictions to international boarders' closures, all of these factors remodeled the usual flow of economy and created a global alert. The analysis below is an in-depth investigation of the alterations the pandemic cognate on the global and Tunisian economy. It is also serving the purpose of explaining in detail the impacts of the pandemic on the sectoral export performance for both the world and Tunisia. After concluding a comparison between the export performance and the Tunisian over a thirty-year-long selected period, an understanding of the pandemic repercussions became mature. In addition to that, a correlation coefficient test with the use of IBM SPSS software was applied to study the relationship between the monthly global and Tunisian exports of merchandise with the COVID-19-related indicators. The results displayed a moderate positive correlation between the variables. Additionally, the severity of the pandemic on the exports was examined, only to find that the repercussions of the virus were nowhere near the global recession. Nevertheless, the main motive which allowed this research to be conducted is the scarcity of reliable and valid information on the impact of the pandemic on export-oriented industries.
