Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study is to reveal the effect of awareness level of employees' recreation activities on burnout and organizational commitment. For this purpose, a questionnaire study was conducted on a sample of 368 people working in a large-scale enterprise operating in telecommunication sector in Istanbul and participating in recreational activities. The questionnaire includes the personal information form, the workplace recreation awareness scale, the Maslach burnout scale and the organizational commitment scale. In the analysis of the data, SPSS was used and descriptive statistics, correlation, regression, t-test, ANOVA and LSD test were used. The findings were evaluated at 95% confidence interval and 5% significance level. According to the findings obtained from the study, the level of awareness of the workplace recreation has a significant effect on emotional exhaustion, personal accomplishment, depersonalization, emotional commitment, normative commitment and continuation commitment. However, personal flexibility and social adaptation perception related to the awareness of workplace recreation decreases the level of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization; increases emotional commitment. On the other hand institutional consciousness and development also increase normative commitment. Considering the positive effects of workplace recreation on burnout and organizational commitment, it is considered that regular recreation plans by institutions will have positive results both for the organization and the employees.
