Abstract (EN)
Insulin treatment which is a method frequently used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes can not be adequate to provide a good glycemic control for most of the patients. For having success from the treatment, it shouldn't be ignored the neccessity of patients's satisfactions and adaptation for the treatment. Study aimed to investigate the relation between treatment satisfaction and glycemic control in individuals with type 2 diabetes who are treated with insulin and influencing factors of treatment satisfaction. Research has been conducted on individuals with type 2 diabetes (N=103) in a research and training hospital. Data was collected with a Patient Assessment Form that includes 24 questions regarding socio-demographic characteristics, diabetes management and control, self-care behaviours, and the Insulin Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire (ITSQ) including 22 questions. Women are less satisfied with the treatment than men. Self-education of the patient, self-monitoring of glucose and self-administration of insulin injection, prevention of hypoglycemia will increase the level of satisfaction with insulin therapy. Of subjects, 61.2% was women and 71.84% was between 50-70 years old, 49.5% and was used basal-bolus insulin therapy. Of individuals with diabetes, 21.3% had good glycemic control (HbA1c<%7.5mg/dL) and 78.7% had poor glycemic control (HbA1c> %7.5mg/dL), 47.6 had hypoglcemic attack (<60mg/dL) at least once or more within last year. Life-style score of insulin treatment satisfaction was lower in women than men. Married individuals were less inconvenient for insulin treatment than the others (p<0.05). All subgroup scores and total score of ITSQ had significantly negative correlatation with HbA1c (p<0.05). In conclusion, increase of treatment satisfaction in individuals with type 2 diabetes using insulin was correlated with glycemic control. Patients education, self-monitoring of blood glucose and self-injection, prevention of hypoglycemia may increase insulin treatment satisfation. Key words: Tip 2 diabetes, insulin therapy, treatment satisfaction, glycemic control, compliance, adherence, diabetes education, insulin administration, insulin injection.
