Determination of pregnancy-related stress levels in primigravid women applying to primary HEALTH center in bakuba district, İRAK

Abstract (EN)
Pregnancy is a time when women can make a difference in their lives. Especially in the first pregnancy, the fact that they do not know what will happen during the birth causes the stress level to change. In order to evaluate the stress related to pregnancy in primigravid women in Iraq, the study was planned in a descriptive cross-sectional design, the universe and sampling method was not used, the study included those aged 18 and over, who agreed to participate in the study, who could speak Arabic, who did not have a risky pregnancy, who were diagnosed with cognitive, psychological and psychiatric Pregnant women without any problem were recruited, and the number of 161 was calculated at the end of the power analysis, and they were included in the primigravid study on 01/03/2022-01/05/2022. 23.6% of the primigravids included in the study were 20-30 years old, 63.4% had a male fetus, 96.3% stated that they wanted to have a baby later, and the average body mass index was 26.36. The average Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) score of the primigravid women included in the study was calculated as 27.38 (min. 15, max. 42 points), and it was concluded that stress levels were high according to these values. Age, education and employment status (F=2.885, p=0.038, F=4.870, p=0.001, F=7.009, p= 0.002, respectively) and the sex of the fetus (T=-0.144, 0.88) and then the baby A significant difference was found between wanting to want to (T=-2.375, p=0.019) and the Perceived Stress Scale mean score (p<0.05), and the stress level of those aged 3-40 years, undergraduates, workers and those who did not want to have a baby later on was found to be high. There was no difference between the mean Perceived Stress Scale score and other sociodemographic characteristics, pregnancies and fetal characteristics, and body mass index (p|>0.05). It is recommended to provide health services related to the working status of primigravids in Baquba, Iraq, and the possible factors and causes that cause stress due to not wanting to have a baby later on, and the possible factors and causes that have not been examined in this study, and the definition and management of stress during pregnancy.
