Abstract (EN)

This study investigated occupational health and safety, the importance of occupational accidents and occupational diseases, the formation of workers impacts in general and to investigate the health and safety of health workers, the risks and hazards which they encounter, work accidents and occupational diseases, precautions, legal regulations, and the results and the effects of these regulations on workers, specifically. Because of its theoretical nature, the present study is based on historian method and correspondingly literature scanning technique. However, professional knowledge, experience and observations are also included and some experiential reference cases have been used, particularly in chapters concerned with health care workers. Work accidents and occupational diseases threaten the health of all employees in the world. Economic and social losses due to work accidents and occupational diseases in our country affect the health care workers and their families, the corporations and the government. Health care workers encounter the physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and psychosocial risks and dangers which result from the job's inherent, while providing services. Yet, health workers are commonly exposed to occupational diseases such as back pain, stress, varicose veins. The insufficient numbers of health personnel, lack of implementation in the legislation, and undeveloped occupational health and safety can be considered as the causes of work accidents and occupational diseases in our country.
