Training, qualifications, duties, authorities and responsibilities of workplace nurses: Delphi analysis study

Occupational nurses undertake contemporary roles in priority issues such as health promotion, research, evidence-based practices, multidisciplinary cooperation, improving quality of life, developing cost-effective occupational health practices, establishing practice standards and policy development, and evaluating the employee and his/her family. Standards related to the education and practice of workplace nursing have been developed in many countries and are supported by legal regulations in today. The problems associated with education, practice and legal regulations in workplace nursing in Turkey are still up to date. For this reason, this study was planned to determine the qualifications of workplace nurses and to develop certificate program content for workplace nursing. In this descriptive study, qualifications of workplace nurses and the content of the certificate program will be presented for the evaluation of the experts in the field during three sessions, using the Delphi technique (designing the questionnaire, identifying the experts, monitoring the experts and tabulating the answers), and the experts will be able to reach a consensus on the issue. In the first session of the study, content analysis (qualitative data) will be used to reveal the main themes and codes through the answers of the expert group to open-ended questions. In the second and third sessions, the central tendency (mean, median, mode) and distribution (standard deviation, interquartile range-IQR value) values ​​for the answers given to the scaled items (quantitative data) will be calculated. With this study, the duties, authorities and responsibilities of workplace nurses will be determined and the content of the certificate program specific to workplace nursing will be created.
