The effect of mobile application supported education given to children with voiding disorders on lower urinary system symtoms and qualty of life

Objective: This research examines the effect of mobile application supported education on lower urinary tract (system) symtoms and quality of life in children with voiding disorders. Material and Methods: This randomized controlled experimental type of study was conducted with children aged 8-14 years old who were monitered in the pediatric nephology policlinic due to woiding disorder between the dates 15.12.2021-01.06.2022. The participants consisted of 99 children, including study group (n=50) and the control group (n=49). Children in the study were given urotherapy training through a mobile training application. Children in the control group were given face to face urotherapy standart training. Data were collected with Introductor data form, Urination Disorders Symptom Score (İBSS), The Pediatric Continence Specific Quality of Life Measurement (PinQ) and bladder diaries. The children in the study group İBSS were administered and PinQ before training (first interview), four weeks after training (second interview) and eight weeks after training (third interview). Bladder diaries were evaluated, four weeks later (second interview) and eight weeks after training (third interview). The data of control group were collected at the same time as the other study group. In the analysis of the data, statics, chi- descriptive square test and two way analysis of variance in repeated measurements were used. Results: İBSS total scores of children in both groups decreased over time after the 1st, 2nd and 3rd visits (p<0.001; p<0.001). Compared to the first interview, the PinQ total scores of the children in the both groups increased over time after the second and third interview (p<0,001; p<0,001). Incontinance numbers of the children in both groups are decreased. Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that standard urotherapy training given to children with voiding disorder via mobile application, reduced lower urinary system symptoms and improved their quality of life. According to this result, it is recommended to give urotherapy training via mobile application to children with voiding disorder
