Abstract (EN)

In this research, it is aimed to expose whether hometown discrimination directed to employees exists in organizations? employee selection and within organization?s working life in scope of employee and manager.The Population of this research is formed from employees and managers in establishments operating in Bursa Nilüfer Organized Zone. Here the population is limited. In this context, a survey was realized with 121 employee and 50 manager from 5 different sectors (metal, automotive, textile, steel-casting and energy), total 25 establishments, in Bursa Organized Industry Zone. As a result of this, individual survey model is used which is one of the general survey models. Questionnaire technique is used in order to collect the data from the sample. The questionnaire is applied to 5 employees and 2 managers from each establishment. Two different questionnaires (for employees and managers) are prepared having same statements.The questionnaire applied to managers consists of third and the questionnaire applied to employees consists of two parts. There are questions related to demographic structure and establishments in which they work in both questionnaires. But, differ from the employee questionnaire, manager questionnaire has statements directed to determine importance degree of effective criteria for managers in organizations? employee selection and within organization?s working life. 20 questions (Part A:5, Part B: 15) exist in the questionnaire directed to determine hometown discrimination in organizations? employee selection and within organization?s working life.Demographic and establishment properties of participants are analyzed with frequency and percentage dispersion this research. Opinions of the managers are analyzed by calculating statistics, median and standard deviation directed to determine importance degree of effective criteria in organizations? employee selection and within organization?s working life. T-Test for independent samples is used whether Opinions of the managers related to determine importance degree of effective criteria in organizations? employee selection and within organization?s working life show a meaningful variation according to demographic and properties of establishments. Variation analyses are used to examine the group more than two.Findings show that hometown status is still important in spite of being less important for both employee selection process and organization working life. Responds directed to determine the hometown discrimination in organizations? employee selection and within organization?s working put forward that it is thought that this type of discrimination exists even if it is less. Leaning on the findings, some solutions are proposed to eliminate hometown discrimination at establishments.Keywords: discrimination, hometown discrimination, process of employee recruitment, work-life in the organization.
