Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted on the population of Anatolian Ground Squirrel in Isparta-Gençali region between 2016-2019. The relationship between the nest distribution, nest density and soil texture of the species was investigated. Anatolian ground squirrels, one of three species of old world ground squirrels native to Turkey. Species habitat in Egirdir-Gencali province tableland which named "Onkuyular", location altitude at 1590-1630 m. Direct and indirect observation technique was used at study between wild animals observation tecniques. Mechanical analysis of soil was performed. In this study, nest structure, annual life cycle, mating time, population behavior, predators and soil characteristics of the study area were investigated. It was found that the start-end dates of the hybridization of the target species were changed depending on the seasonal temperature and rainfall during the study conducted between 2016-2019. It was determined that the hibernation period started in September-November and ended in March-April. It was determined that the species used the area in rotation and the soil stony amount was effective in 0.01 confidence interval in nest location preference. In the habitat of the target species, the transhumance and livestock activities of the village of Gençali are continued. Increasing anthropogenic factors and the unplanned use of the area a threat to the survival of the species in the area. For species, insitu conservation measures should be taken to ensure the continuity of the species and the protection of biological diversity.
