Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this thesis is to determine some morphological and physiological characteristics of Hair Goats raised in the Isparta Province. This study has been conducted in herds identified within the scope of the "National Breeding Program in the Hands of the People" carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Sheep and Goat Breeders' Association, and Isparta University of Applied Sciences for twelve years in the Isparta Province. The obtained results were statistically analyzed, and some basic performance traits of Hair Goats under breeding conditions in the Isparta Province were revealed. According to the research findings, years, dam age, and birth type were found statistically significant in terms of kid birth weight (P<0.001). In the study, the effect of dam age and sex on daily live weight gains was found to be statistically significant (P<0.05). The survival rate of Hair Goat kids at weaning was determined as 82.25% on average. The twinning rate, one of the fertility traits, was found to be 43%. The average live weight of Hair Goats was found to be 63.04 kg. The height at rump was determined as 82.24 cm, height at withers as 84.93 cm, chest depth as 36.27 cm, chest circumference as 94.42 cm, and body length as 80.98 cm. It is important to breed the Hair Goat, which is a rising value, in pure form and to reveal its genetic potential. This thesis has scientifically demonstrated the actual performance capabilities of our local breeds, provided a detailed description of the breed, and shown that their performance is not low. As a result, it is important to breed pure Hair goat, which is a rising value, and to reveal its genetic potential. With this thesis study, the real yield capabilities of our local breeds have been revealed, their detailed definition as a breed has been made and it has been scientifically shown that their yield performance is not low.
