Iznik Underwater Basilica excavation of 2019/2020/2021 years scyphate findings

Nikaia is placing between one of the most important cities which founded by humanity from the beginning prehistoric periods. We can say that its increasing importance since the Roman Empire Period reached its peak in the Byzantine Empire. It has been a constant point of interaction due to its commercial, political and religious importance in the sudden period. For this reason, the city of Nikaia is also an important center for numismatic science. It is known that there have been changes in the depiction of the coins over time. Regardless of these changes, the economic situation and the value, which is the forefront of political reasons, have also occurred in differences such as printing technique. After the "Money Reform" carried out by the Byzantine Emperor Alexios I in 1092, the use of Çukur Coins/Scyphate began. The aim of this thesis is to create the collector of the scyphate found in the "Iznik Underwater Basilica" 2019/2020/2021 excavation seasons. Accordingly, our study will help to illuminate the history of the excavated basilica plan.
