Abstract (EN)

It was aimed to determine female school administrators' views about the concept of self development in this study. Problem statement to search was determined as "What are the female school administartors' views about the concept of self development?". This study was carried out in the context of phenomenology which is a type of qualitative reserach methods. The sampling of this study is composed of 10 women school administrators working at nursery schools, primary, secondary and high schools in the districts of Şahinbey and Şehitkamil in Gaziantep and Dulkadiroğlu, 12 Şubat and Pazarcık in Kahramanmaraş in 2014-2015 educational year. The study group was determined using snowball sampling method. Semi structured interview form was used as data collection tool in the study. The data were analyzed through content analysis method. The findings point a need to clear the current negative perceptions toward the women administrators and to improve themselves to make others feel their presence. Morever human relations and management of feelings have come to the fore as the fields female school administrators need to improve themselves. According to the study results, training for school female administrators can be organized and their participation can be provided. So they can both be provided to improve themselves at the needed areas and improve self-confidence as a woman.
