Abstract (EN)
This study aims to examine women's poverty, which is one of the most visible forms of poverty, in the context of social exclusion, to explain whether the so-called feminization of poverty causes social exclusion, and if so, in what ways. Poverty is one of the biggest and most difficult problems for developing and underdeveloped countries in terms of economic, social and political aspects. Poverty, which creates a problem even independently, causes poverty to renew and transform, enter a vicious circle, and make it difficult to solve the problem by adding other problems to its environment. In this context, researching the causes of poverty in the context of the economy and social structure and developing projects to solve the identified problems constitute one aspect of the fight against poverty. Since women's poverty is a special problem, it requires special policies. Bringing women into working life will increase her social status to the level she deserves and will neutralize the so-called social exclusion. It is associated with social exclusion, poverty and disadvantage, and is fed by social, political, economic and cultural influences. On the one hand, social exclusion is seen as a cause of poverty, on the other hand, poverty is seen as an element of social exclusion. It is a necessity for social policy tools to follow ways that will minimize or even eliminate social exclusion. This study aims to start with the definition of the concept of social exclusion, to identify the reasons and types of its emergence, to determine the point where it coincides with poverty and to follow the ways of struggle against it. It is also among the aims of the study to determine what kind of relationship there is between exclusion and poverty. Qualitative research method was used in this study, which examines the relationship between social exclusion and women's poverty among women living in the Mamak district of Ankara. Interviews (interviews) were conducted with women living in Gülveren and Bahçeleriçi Neighborhoods, who received social assistance from the Mamak Municipality. Snowball sampling method was used in the study. Research data were obtained by in-depth interview method. In the study, open-ended questions were asked to the participants. It was tried to understand the knowledge, emotion and opinion levels of the participants. The women were asked about how they see themselves in social life, the difficulties they experience in their daily life and participation in social life, the adequacy level of their economic situation, and their thoughts on understanding their satisfaction with their lives.
