Abstract (EN)

Screening or diagnostic mammography in women with information about the application, evaluation of thought and behavior Breast cancer ranks as the first among cause of death from cancer in females. Self examination breast, mammography and clinical breast examination are the most effective early diagnosis methods recommended in terms of reducing breast cancer mortality rates. The study was carried out at Radiology Research at the unit of a private hospital in Istanbul between 29.08.2013 and 01.12.2013 with females having no disability, through a questionnaires form in order to evaluate information, opinions and behaviors of the women regarding screening and diagnostic mammography application. Questionnaire Data; Questionnaire Method based on literature and clinical experience was used (Annex-1) and mean, Standard deviation, min-max, median, ratio and frequency values were used for descriptive statistics of the data. The distribution of variables was checked with Kolmogorov-Simirnov test. In the analysis quantitative data independent sample t test and Mann-Whitney u test was used. In the analysis of qualitative data chisquare test was used. SPSS 21.0 program was used in analyses. It was found that the average age of the participants was 51,2±8,1, average BMI was 28,0 ±5,7; 27,2% of whom were high school students, 19,3% were university graduates and 83,5% had private health insurance. 20,7% of the cases had family history of breast cancer, 61,3% were in menopause, 73,7% of the cases had regularly mammography imaging, In our study, we found that 79,7% had have clinical mammography (breast self-examination) on a regular basis and 84,4% of those having regular clinical breast examination had regular mammography regularly and 60,9% of those having mammography each month. Of cases associated with mammography health system barriers 31,7% is expensive, 13.6% of the inability to get an appointment and they responded not be found. Cases of personal obstacles associated with mammography 21.4% neglect, 18.5% poor results i found out they do not fear regularly with mammography. Case of the process factors associated with mammography fear of radiation by 12.5%, 8.6% due to the pain felt during the procedure regularly they are not found for a screening mammogram. Process in terms of pain intensity before mammography and distressing pain 30% of cases, 27.6% of overwhelming pain, 20.6% found the pain bearable. Of the patients in our study that examined pain scores after mammography bearable 64.4%, 12.3% of overwhelming pain and 11.1% responded that they found the distressing pain.
