Abstract (EN)

In our study, the humor culture of Kars was examined by means of anecdotes and episodes which are the narrative products of folk literature. The geographical, historical, socio-cultural structure of the research area, humor culture and studies on folk humor in Kars were discussed. A theoretical study was conducted in the center of humor and laughter, and in this context, information was given about the definition, development, styles and theories of humor. The functions of anecdotes and episodes were evaluated on the basis of functional folklore theory. Kars humor texts were divided into fourteen titles according to their topics and analyzed according to theories. Structure, composition, language and style of texts, characters, space and time issues were discussed. Types in anecdotes and episodes were analyzed under sub-headings. Biographical information about the types of episodes, which are told by connecting to real people who have experienced or are considered to have experienced, has been determined. Anecdotes and episodes were interpreted according to the theories of superiority, dissonance and relaxation. In addition to these three study models, cultural memory and semiotics approaches were also evaluated among the study topics based on the subjects of the texts we identified. In our thesis study, the texts compiled by us using face-to-face interview technique were used. Anecdotes and episodes, which are excluded from the texts examined in the chapters, are given in the APPENDIX at the end of the study.
