A validity and reliability study of the Turkish version of musculoskeletal health questionnaire

The aim of this study is to determine reliability and validity of Turkish version of Musculoskeletal Health Questionnaire (MSK-HQ). Two hundred patients with 100 Axial Spondyloarthritis (AxSpA) and 100 Osteoarthritis (OA) were evaluated in the study. Sosciodemografic features of the patients were recorded. MSK-HQ, Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI), Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index (BASFI) and Short-Form 36 (SF-36) were applied to AxSpA patients. MSK-HQ, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and SF-36 were applied to OA patients. All patients filled in the MSK-HQ once again five-seven days later. Test-retest and internal consistency analyzes were performed to determine the reliability; construct validity and criterion validity analyzes were used to determine the validity. The test-retest correlation coefficient was 0.954 (p<0.001), and the Cronbach Alpha value for internal consistency analysis was 0.900. These results show that the scale has invariance property versus time and high internal consistency. When exploratory factor analysis was performed to test construct validity, it was determined that the scale was in a three-factor structures. The correlation of the MSK-HQ with BASDAI, BASFI and pain, social and physical subparameters of SF-36 in AxSpA patients were examined for concurrent validity of scale. The correlation of the MSK-HQ with WOMAC and pain, social and physical subparameters of SF-36 in OA patients were examined for concurrent validity of scale. It was seen that the correlation of MSK-HQ with other surveys was at good level (p< 0.001). It was concluded that the Turkish version of MSK-HQ was valid and reliable as the result of the analyzes.
