Synonymy in Nabi's Divan by meaning proximity of meaning to words

One of the discussed issues of semantics is "meaning of sameness". The "meaning of sameness" is semantically termed "synonymy". The subject is generally limited to "word synonymy". In semantic environment, there are many discussions on this subject. There are two sides to the discussions: Those who accept the existence of the "synonymy" situation on the one hand and those who do not. It is not possible for two different words to have the same meaning without a distinction between them. With the fact that two or more linguistic forms can not have the same meaning, the term "close meaning" is preferred in this study. In addition, close meaning is not limited to words only. Close meaning can be seen between each meaningful unit in a language. In this study, discussions on the subject were examined and "close meaning" was tried to be explained in detail. With the necessity to examine close meaning in context, close meaning was assessed through a sample text. Considering the closeness of meaning, examples of close meaning in word, supra-word and sub-word levels were examined in couplets selected from the Nâbî Divân. In the examinations, it was tried to explain why words can not be synonymy. Among these examples, some of the word-level ones were selected. The proximity rates of these words (considering dictionary meanings) were determined and listed. These ratios show how close and far they are to each other in terms of their (words) dictionary (lexical) meanings. Here, it was tried to explain through examples where there is no synchronic sameness among the meaningful units in the language. In addition, it is tried to explain that there is no synchronic sameness among the meaningful units in the language. On the other hand, with the fact that mathematical data can not be a criterion when in the studies to be done on meaning, it is intended to be included at the level of "meaning" in the debates of synonymy which is one of the problems of semantics.
