Abstract (EN)

Because Herpesvirüses are latent in the human body after primary infection, immunosuppressive drugs taken for bone marrow transplantation (BMT) impair the immune system and allow these viruses to become reactive. Therefore, the search for Herpesvirüses in BMT patients is vital. In this study, it was aimed to investigate Herpesvirüses Type 1-7 by using Multiplex Real Time PCR which is one of the molecular methods in bone marrow transplantation patients in Gaziantep University Hospital Hematology clinic. 60 patients who received bone marrow transplantation from Gaziantep University Sahinbey Research and Practice Hospital Hematology Clinic between January 2017 and January 2018 were included in the study. Blood was taken from each patient twice before and after the BMT. In autologous transplantations; blood was taken at 60 days after the BMT and at 90 days after allogeneic transparencies. Typing of Herpesvirüses was performed using the multiplex real time PCR kit [EZ1 / FTD Neuro9 (Fast Track Diagnostics, Luxembourg)]. In the study, 18 (30%) patients were found to have Herpesvirüs in the hospital before transplantation and 10 (16.6%) patients after the transplantation. It has been found that 11 patients (18.3%) had CMV, 2 (3.3%) had HHV-6, 3 (5%) had HHV-6 and CMV, 2 (3.3%) had EBV and CMV before transplantation. EBV (1.6%) in 1, HHV-6 and CMV in 1 (1.6%), and EBV in 2 (3.3%) in one patient (6.6% and CMV, 1 (1.6%) EBV and HHV-6 were detected after transplantation. Before and after transplantation, 36 (60%) patients were negative and 4 (6.66%) patients were positive. While 6 (10%) patients determined as negative before the transplantation found as positive after transplantation, and 14 (23.33) patients that determined as positive before transplantation found as negative after transplantation. As a result, reactivation or transmission of Herpesvirüs in BMT patients should be monitored as they may have important consequences in immunosuppressed patients.
