Abstract (EN)

We aimed to determine the oxidative stress (malondialdehide (MDA)) and antioxidant (paraoxonase (PON1), aryl esterase (ARE)) parameters of neutropenic patients due to cancer chemotherapy on the periods of neutropenia and healing from neutropenia by means of filgrastim application .Patients older than 18 years old with neutropenia secondary to chemoterapy in Firat University Medical Oncology Clinic were included in this study. From the blood samples of patients which were obtained on the determined periods mentioned above, besides the necessary diagnostic tests MDA, PON1, ARE, high density lipoprotein (HDL), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and alcaline phosphatase (ALP) were evaluated. For statistical evaluation SPSS 12.00 computer programme (SPSS İnc., Software Chicago, IL, USA) was used.In this study we determined that serum levels of PON1,ARE, LDH and HDL in the neutropenic period were statistically significantly higher than healing period (p<0.05) and levels of MDA and ALP in the neutropenic period were statistically significantly lower than healing period (p<0.05).In conclusion we determined that free oxygene radicals increase and antioxidant parameters decrease on the healing course of neutropenia. Keywords: Neutropenia secondary to chemotherapy, oxidative stress, antioxidants, malondialdehide, paraoxonase.
