Abstract (EN)
Relationship of Self-Efficacy With Caregiver Burden in Patients With COPD This study was conducted as a cross-sectional descriptive study to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and caregiver burden in individuals with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The sample of the study consists of 182 individuals with COPD diagnosis and 182 individuals who care for these individuals. "Data Form", "COPD Assessment Test (CAT)" and "COPD Self-efficacy Scale" were used as data collection tools for individuals with COPD. For those who care, "Information Form" and "Load Scale of Caregivers" were applied. Both sets of data were collected by means of face-to-face interviews at the same time. Kolmogrov Smirnov Test, Mann Whitney-U Test, Kruskall Walls-H Test, Bonferroni Regression, Sperman Correlation Analysis were used in the evaluation of the data and the significance level was accepted as p <0,05. The mean COPD Self-Efficacy Scale score was 2,32 ± 0,43 and the CAT score was 26,97 ± 5,25 for individuals with COPD with a mean age of 63,55 ± 11,75. 96.2% of individuals have a COPD Self-Efficacy score below 3 and people are affected by the lifestyle and health of COPD. Caregiver burden scale score of caregivers whose average age is 48.77 ± 14.09 is 30.51 ± 10.62. 64.8% of caregivers have a low care load. The increase in the self-efficacy of COPD individuals decreased the burden of caregivers (r = -0,33; p <0,015), while the effect of COPD on daily life and quality of life increased, the burden of caregivers increased (r = 0.51; p <0.001 ). In conclusion, the self-efficacy and quality of life of COPD individuals influence the burden of caregivers. Keywords: COPD, CAT, Self-efficacy, Caregiver
