Abstract (EN)
Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the brain dynamics of cognitively normal Parkinson's disease (PD-N) patients in comparison to healthy controls by examining the resting state EEG recordings a one-year follow-up, using the power analysis method. Method: 19 PD-N (mean age: 65.53) and age, education and sex-matched 20 healthy controls (mean age: 65,95) were included in the study. A detailed neuropsychological evaluation battery was applied to all participants. Then, the PD-N group was divided into two subgroups according to the change in UPDRS motor scores over one year follow-up, Additionally, resting EEG recordings were taken according to the international 10-20 system. Power was measured automatically from Delta (0.5-3.9 Hz), Theta (4-7.9 Hz), Alpha (8-13 Hz), Alpha1 (8-10.4 Hz), Alfa2 (10.5-13 Hz), Beta (13-30 Hz), Beta1 (13-20 Hz) and Beta2 (20-30 Hz) frequency bands. Seperate repeated measures ANOVAs were performed for each frequency band. Results: Repeated measures ANOVA did not reveale any Time x Group interaction effect in any frequency band. The PD-N subgroup with the worsening UPDRS scores showed increased theta power compared to the healhy controls. Conclusion: In this study, the cognitive profiles of the patients with PD-N remained stable as the patients with more severe motor sypmtoms showed increased theta power. These results suggested that the increased theta power might be associated with worsening of the motor symptoms. Key Words: Parkinson's Disease, Resting State EEG, Neuropsychological Tests
