Taboo in Kyrgyz culture

The concept of taboo, which is the subject of the research, has been evaluated in the context of Kyrgyz culture and for this purpose, a literature study has been made that may be related or relevant to the subject. The concept of taboo, which is related to many concepts, facts, beliefs and practices and reveals the individual and society in terms of cultural changes, can be interpreted in the context of the determination of cultural codes and cultural continuity is a concept worth investigating from past to present. In this context, although the concept of taboo has been associated with totemism since the past, it is associated with concepts such as belief systems, religion, sacred, ritual, cult, customary and folk law and memorate. In fact, taboo is a concept that has a vital role and function for these concepts, which maintain their vitality in the cultural system. In this study, which deals with the concept of taboo in the context of Kyrgyz culture, folklore methods, structural and functional approaches, its traces have been traced in Kyrgyz culture. Instead of giving a long place to the history of the Kyrgyz that developed with complex events, the concept of taboo has been tried to be evaluated in the context of a process extending from its historical background to todays cultural changes. The experiences, testimonies and narratives of the source people are included in the compilations obtained from the field research, especially under the titles such as memorates, transitional periods and folk medicine, and on topics that may be related to the concept of taboo. In addition, in accordance with the conceptual and theoretical framework of the subject, the function of euphemisms in language and their traces in oral culture products were tried to be determined. In this context, in the field proposed and opened by structural functional theory; practices, folk beliefs, transition periods, folk medicine, belief systems, religious changes are discussed in relation to the subject of the study. On the basis of the concept of taboo and in the field of contemplation, both the common cultural codes of the Turkish world and the current reflections, problems and cultural changes of the Kyrgyz culture were taken into account, determinations and recommendations were tried to be developed.
