Abstract determining of the self-care agency and quality of life aging between 14 to 18 adolescent with chronic renal failure

This study, a descriptive and cross-sectional one, has been done to determine both self-care agency and quality of life adolescent with chronic renal failure. The sampling of the study includes 84 adolescent aging between 14 to 18 with the chronic renal failure, Baskent University Ankara Hospital Center, Adana, Konya İstanbul University Hospital Center for Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis Clinics, Baskent University Ankara Hospital Pediatric Nephrology Clinic.The data in the study have been collected between April 04, 2009 and November 20, 2009 through a questionnaire designed in line with the related literature through which the followings have been determined: socio- demographic features, illness related features, parent features of the adolescents, self- care agency scala and quality of life measures.The data in the study have been transferred into SPSS program, version 15.0, and examined through descriptive statistics, independent-sample t-test, One Way ANOVA and linear regression.The result of the data analysis can be summarised as follows: It has been determined that all the adolescents were self- care agency in middle level; gender differentation to girls? self care agency is higher than boys (p<0.05). There is no statistically significant correlation between socio-demographic features (p>0.05). It has been determined that all the adolescents were quality of life in middle level; gender, school absence, economic status, parent education level and treatment form effect to quality of life adolescents.
