Abstract (EN)
In this study, firstly, the concepts of family and migration were examined and these concepts were investigated in the literature. Based on the migration movements in our country, especially the migration from rural to urban areas and the changes in the family as a result of this migration were examined. The effects of migration on family members who migrated, especially women and children in the family, are discussed through television series. In our rapidly developing world, there have been changes in the cultural field as well as the changes in many areas. Depending on these changes, there have also been changes in the family institution. For years, the place where women belong has been accepted as their home, but with the change of relations in the production sector, women have started to take their place in business life. Thus, the financial dependence of women on men in the family disappeared. As a result of all these developments, changes began to occur in family values. It is thought that television, which is the most common tool among mass media, reflects and reproduces these changes from the audience. For this reason, in my thesis study, the change of family was examined in three different television series broadcast in prime time on ATV and Kanal D screens in 2011-2012 and 2019. Content analysis was made on the selected series. As a result of the analysis, the changes in the structure of families who migrated from rural to urban areas were included in television series; However, despite these changes, we can say that the stereotypes and the traditions that constitute the cultural value are repeated by providing the continuation.
