The concept of "hikmah" in the Qur'an

The word of "Hikmah" is derived from the Arabic root of "حَكَمَ". The verb of "حَكَمَ" means to keep, withold, hold or detain etc. In terminology and technical using, it has a broader frame and understanding like, to know the wisdom and reality of existence and all of the created things, act in accordance with this wisdom, prove the reality, the other names of holy books-Qur'an, Bible and Torah, obey the rules of Allah, understand the religion and act as it says, to be in awe with fear of Allah, be in Takwa, think about the art and act of Allah, govern, and have great knowledge etc. In the first chapter of this study, the definition and analysis of the concept of "Hikmah" has been done. The definition of the concept has been examined in terms of the meaning of dictionary and terminology. On the other hand, the deep analysis of it was also handled historically and problematically. In the second chapter, the definition and analysis of the concept of "Hikmah" from the view of Qur'an has been made. The definition of the concept of "Hikmah" in the Qur'an has been analyzed in terms of form and meaning. The deep analysis was gathered under three titles according to its subject, object and verb and each of them was investigated in detail. Key Words: The Holy Qur'an, Hikmah, Knowledge, Practice
