Fuzzy rule-based modelling and an implementation of a price forecasting process

In recent years, developing effective strategies those create added value, have become mandatory for the businesses to survive in an increasingly competitive environment by the presence of global economy. Making accurate demand forecasts for the future becomes an important element making difference in strategy determination . In this respect, enterprises have turned to use several qualitative or quantitative forecasting methods.In uncertainty environments where making sound decisions is very important for the businesses, the deterministic methods do not always enable accurate modeling in process of making relevant decisions. In uncertain environments commonly consisting of human judgments, fuzzy logic approach, which is based on the essence of digitization of human judgments by aid of linguistic variables and membership functions and that was developed by Zadeh in the 1960s, occurs as a crucial decision making method used in decision-making process.In this thesis, Fuzzy Logic and Fuzzy Modeling subjects had been examined theoretically and in this context an application is made by creating a rule-based fuzzy model that would help to price forecasting in tenders those a firm operating in paint sector participates in.
